Cebu Province is a skinny island located in Region 7 of the Philippines, about an hour's flight and a world away from Manila. Although Cebu City, the largest city in Cebu Province, is the economic powerhouse of the region and the second largest city in the Philippines, the culture is quite different from Manila. Since a lot of people immediately think of Manila when the name of our country is mentioned, we've made a little table listing some differences between Manila and Cebu.

Cebu island is somewhere near the middle of the archipelago. The chaos of Manila and the Muslim insurgency of Mindanao are both far away. To date, there has been no terrorist attack in Cebu City, though - like any city - we have our share of criminality. Cebu is predominantly Catholic, and any errant Muslim terrorist tends to stand out like a sore thumb.
